Troop 282

If you are a young man between the ages of 11 and 17, and live in the Gilbert, Arizona area, we would like to invite you to become part of a great adventure. If you like (or think you would like) the outdoors, camping, swimming, hiking, backpacking, etc., you would like scouting and you would like our troop. In addition to these activities, we work with each boy to advance in Scout rank – all the way to Eagle Scout. If you think that you would like to become part of an exciting and fun adventure such as this, we would like to invite you (bring your parents) to pay us a visit.

Troop 282 is a boy-run troop. Leadership is one of the methods of scouting. Every boy will have an opportunity to participate in both shared and total leadership. All duties for patrol activities are assigned by the patrol leader. Understanding the concepts of leadership helps the boy accept the leadership of others and helps him to grow into a more responsible adult and leader himself.

In the true spirit of scouting the boys learn through doing. The boys are given the opportunity to lead, develop new skills, and assume responsibilities. Boys teach other boys. Boys make mistakes, but they learn from the process. Our dedicated adult leadership are there to provide guidance, coaching, mentoring and insure safety - but the boys do run the show.
